School mornings

Autumnal spring in the air,
A fresh crispness that sees new school bags,
Hats, itchy v-necks and grey school trousers,
Carry young heads into their first day,
At school.

A cool air that hangs in the morning,
As luke warm sunlight colours overhead
Leafs - ready to fall.
Soon to make a mush on the playground.
A mess in the school hall.

Still and wet puddles lay lazy,
Wetting the pavement and new shoes,
Ears get chilly in the morning,
But on the way home from school
All will be no longer new.
