Life in the Lost Lane
A collective of English Gentlemen
Saturday, April 17

Feeling funny, i eventually agreed. I would take part. There wasn't much more to discuss. I was involved and it was gonna take something serious to change that.
"I don't wanna be a killjoy" Brian moaned. "But you need to show more heart."
He was right, i didn't wanna do it, and because of that feeling, i wasn't giving it my all. I decided that i would put a little more effort in. Even if it meant faking it.
"Don't touch me!" Carrie shouted as i placed my hands on her shoulders. It annoyed me. I didn't mean anything by it. She was just funny about people touching her. Weird. I thought that maybe she had unresolved issues regarding her childhood, but I'm no expert.
" Look" I said. The annoyance evident in my voice. " I don't care how long this takes, i just wanna get it right." I hoped my tone would change any feelings of doubt that Brian and Carrie held about my commitment.
Carrie smiled. Brian looked angry. I secretly didn't care.
"Whatever it is you're trying to do, i won't bend as easily as Carrie" Brian looked and sounded in control. Carrie blushed. Maybe she liked me. I looked at Brian as if he was talking another language. He knew. He was more intelligent than i gave him credit for. He looked back at me. Knowing eyes.
"Alright" I admitted. "I think the whole thing is stupid"
Carrie's eyes gave her away. She was shocked. She did like me.
"Leave then" Brian said. Smugly."Just leave."
And so i did.
